On Friday, May 3, Granville County hosted the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners District 8 meeting at the Granville County Convention and Expo Center. District 8 consists of Granville, Franklin, Person, Vance, and Warren counties.
NCACC Executive Director Kevin Leonard, NCACC Board of Directors President Carswell (Burke County) and Past President Tracey Johnson (Washington County) welcomed the five-county cohort and spoke about the services offered by NCACC including lobbying and advocacy efforts to benefits counties at the state and federal levels and technical assistance offered for counties, called Strategic Member Services, which is set to train the next generation of local government professionals while also providing much needed capacity to understaffed rural counties.
Representatives from each of the five District 8 counties spoke about the challenges they are each facing and how NCACC can better serve their members in this region.
