Human Relations Commission Hosts 2024 MLK Event

The Granville County Human Relations Commission hosted their annual program in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15 at Oxford Baptist Church with a program titled
“Remembering the Dream by Calling for Unity and a Celebration of Diversity in our Community.”
 
Winners of the MLK essay contest were announced during the event and featured some of the winners reading their entries.
 
1st Place Essays:
Angel Crawford – J.F. Webb High School
Melody Lashae Crawford – J.F. Webb High School
Kamiya Estes – Granville Early College
Brenda Badillo – Granville Early College
 
Honorable Mention:
Antonio Chiverton – Granville Early College
Alex Jimenez-Cruz – Granville Early College
Zariah Henry – Granville Early College
 
Reverend Dr. Brett Pardue, Senior Pastor of Oxford Baptist Church, served as the event’s keynote speaker. Special thanks to Rev. Pardue and the staff of Oxford Baptist Church for hosting the event and providing technical support to the Human Relations Commission.
