Notice of Public Hearings – September 5, 2023

All interested persons please take notice that three public hearings will be held by the Granville County Board of Commissioners pursuant to N.C.G.S. 158-7.1 on September 5, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. or shortly thereafter. The meeting will be held at the Granville County Convention and Expo Center, 4185 Highway 15, Oxford, NC 27565.

 

Public Hearing #1:

 

The purpose of the public hearing is to hear the views of the public on aiding and encouraging the expansion of industrial facilities in Granville County, specifically as follows: A $500,000 grant will support the renovation of a 355,000-square-foot building in Creedmoor. The building is occupied by Altec Industries, Inc., a provider of products and services to the electric utility, telecommunications, tree care, lights and signs, and contractor markets. The company expects to create 70 jobs and invest $30,927,478 in this project. The maximum cost of the County-funded improvements will be up to $300,000 in accordance with the County funding policy to include a 5% match of $25,000 towards the $500,000 Building Reuse Grant provided by The North Carolina Department of Commerce, and a $275,000 cash incentive provided by Granville County.

 

Public Hearing #2:

 

The purpose of the public hearing is to hear the views of the public on aiding and encouraging the expansion of industrial facilities in Granville County, specifically as follows: the relocation and expansion of a manufacturing company in Granville County. Auction Direct USA, an operator of a network of used vehicle superstores, will expand its operations in North Carolina by locating a new high-volume vehicle reconditioning facility in Granville County, creating 173 jobs. The company will invest $2.9 million in Oxford. The maximum cost of the County-funded improvements will be up to $25,000 in accordance with the County funding policy to include a 5% match of a $500,000 Building Reuse Grant provided by The North Carolina Department of Commerce.  

 

Public Hearing #3:

 

The purpose of the public hearing is to hear the views of the public on aiding and encouraging the expansion of industrial facilities in Granville County, specifically as follows: the expansion of Bridgestone Bandag a manufacturing company in Granville County to expand its existing facility. The company will invest $1,623,990 into the project and create 61 new jobs. The maximum cost of the County-funded improvements will be up to $22,500 in accordance with the County funding policy to include a 5% match of a $450,000 Building Reuse Grant provided by The North Carolina Department of Commerce.  

 

These projects will be funded with general County operating funds. The cost to the County of the County-funded capital improvements will be offset by new tax revenues generated by the company’s capital investment in the project over a period not to exceed five years.

 

The public benefits to be derived from the making of these improvements include the development of industrial properties, which will increase the County’s tax base to better provide for County services, and to increase employment opportunities within the County.
