Berea Library Offers EcoExplore Discovery Kits

Posted January 25, 2023

Did you know that the Berea Branch Library is an “ecoExplore Hotspot”?

EcoExplore is a program developed by the North Carolina Arboretum that provides equipment to participating locations to loan out “discovery kits.” Discovery kits include a trail camera and SD card, bird call, butterfly net, kid friendly binoculars, magnifying glass, and bug collection jar. The packs are available for three week checkout at no cost using your Granville County Library card!

As part of its participation in the ecoExplore initiative, the Berea Branch Library hosts quarterly programs focused on nature-based studies and featuring area naturalists. This is a great opportunity to visit the Berea pollinator garden where kids can earn points that can be “cashed-in” by cataloging flora and fauna they spot nearby using the ecoExplore website.

For more information about the ecoExplore discovery kits, contact the Berea Branch Library at 919-693-1231.

The Berea Branch Library is located at 1211 US Highway 158, Oxford. The hours of operation are Tuesdays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Thursdays 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.; and Fridays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
